Located 141 km west of Mareeba and 205 km
(approximately 3 hours drive) west of Cairns, Chillagoe is one
of the most fascinating and historical places in Far North
Queensland.
When approaching the township, you will know you are in
“Chillagoe country” by the appearance on the
horizon of the ruggedly beautiful rocky limestone outcrops (in
which are located the famous caves of Chillagoe).
These outcrops, ranging in colour from sandy-white through
brown-red to slate-grey/black, dominate the area and will
capture your attention throughout your visit.
Should you be planning a visit to Chillagoe, there are a number
of accommodation venues available, including hotel/motel,
self-contained unit, van and camping and cabin type
accommodation.
Adequate basic shopping and fuel facilities are available.
Dining facilities are available at most of the accommodation
venues.
